playing with paint
I recently had the honor of hosting a four-week series called “Playing With Paint,” which was held in the newly renovated basement of Curtis Memorial Library. As you can probably tell from the title, I wanted this to be a fun, low-pressure experience for everyone who attended.
Each week, our group focused on a different painting by a different artist: Vincent Van Gogh‘s “Starry Night” was week one, Jackson Pollock‘s “Autumn Rhythm” was week two, Georgia O’Keeffe‘s “Double View” was week three, and Marc Chagall‘s “Le Champ de Mars” was week four.
My hope was that people would enjoy the act of putting paint onto canvas, and perhaps even gain a new appreciation for artists and their artwork. I’m happy to report that this is exactly what happened…and the work people created was wonderful! Here are some photos from each week’s class:

I could fill this entire post with nothing but photos! People really embraced the spirit of “playing with paint”. Some of the attendees had never painted before, and as you can see, they produced some really beautiful stuff…each with their own unique spin!
Were you a part of this class? If so, please share your experience in the comments!
